There’s a great deal of entertainment value in the NBA playoffs.
You see the superstars strutting their stuff. You see amazing plays, from out-of-nowhere passes to eye-popping, rim-rattling reverse dunks. And while you haven’t seen any nail-biters yet, it’s early — you may.
With several games to go on the conference finals, here are a few truisms. Dispute them at your own risk.
— Stephen Curry may be the show horse of the Golden State Warriors, but Kevin Durant is the work horse. He is other-worldly gifted, plays gritty, in-your-face defense and doesn’t appear to ever miss a free throw.
— When Stephen Curry gets on a roll, such as in the second-half of Game Three vs. the Houston Rockets, the show horse becomes The Show.
— They call LeBron James “the King” for a reason. He can carry a team, a franchise, a city. He is the reason the Cavaliers are still alive. Awesome beard, too.
— Boston Celtics coach Brad Stevens might be the smartest coach in the playoffs. He’s 41, looks 31, and his Brainiac mind and creative use of a patchwork lineup is the reason the Celtics are still alive in the playoffs.
— The Houston Rockets better awaken soon or their party will be over. The first clue came when the Warriors stole Game One in Houston.
— If you bet (sports wagering is legal in Nevada) the Warriors in Game Three on the first-quarter line (-3), the first-half line (-5 at -120), the second-half line (-1) or the game (-7.5), you cashed a ticket without a sweat. If you cashed more than one ticket, congratulations.
— Some fans will be disappointed, but there’s a reasonable chance it will be the Warriors vs. the Cavs again in the Finals.
