In Vegas Fact

Out to run some errands on a Friday afternoon.

When I rolled up to an intersection, I was amazed to see a classic Lincoln Continental that was perpendicular to me at the stoplight. A little research suggests it was one from the ‘60s, perhaps ’69. It was black and appeared to be a half-block long. Almost circled around to take a closer look, but traffic was flowing. And so was I.

Turned down another street and was amused to see a guy lowering the top of his tiny Mazda Miata convertible. Made sense, it was about 88 degrees with perhaps 8 percent humidity. Great day to take the top down on a car. I was struck by the tiny size of the Miata. Compared with the Lincoln Continental, it was practically Lilliputian.

Finally, swung back to a nearby shopping center. I parked equidistant between two stops I had to make. As I was walking, stopped to admire a beautiful blue Tesla. Might have been the Model X, but of course Tesla doesn’t put model names on their vehicles. Nor do their model names have any recognizable order, likely a quirk of their eccentric CEO. I chuckled, however, at the Nevada personalized tags: TL EMC2.

As I was completing my journey, I spied one other Tesla. Pretty sure this was the Model Y, a smaller “entry level” vehicle. Another beautiful paint job in a sort of bronze color. And another clever personalized Nevada tag: MU FTBL. (Double bonus points if you translate all of that without looking it up.)

And then, I walked back to my plain ol’ Ford Ranger pickup truck. It has randomly assigned Nevada tags, but its official color is Colorado Red.
