You’d go out for macaroni and cheese, right?
We did. And it was great macaroni and cheese, made with gouda cheese and laced with roasted cauliflower and apple.
We were at Hearthstone at Red Rock Resort, a bright, airy place with blonde-wood tables and a fun, casual atmosphere. The servers were all wearing jeans.
The macaroni and cheese was a highlight. We didn’t go full gourmet and instead split a chickpea chopped salad, which was a piquant mix of flavors.
We also ordered some flatbread, one primavera (shaved zucchini, cherry tomatoes and pesto) and another with buffalo mozzarella, basil and chili called D.O.C.
It was good flatbread, perhaps a little high at $16 and $18, respectively, for a neighborhood casino.
So: All in a all, a respectable meal on a weekend night out. Good food, respectable service.
Minor complaints: We are water drinkers (Nevada’s finest) and the ice was hard to come by. In fact, upon asking for ice, our server brought more water without the ice.
Also, the TV sound was up. Not appropriate for a crowd that might prefer conversation vs. the audio of a baseball game.
But we might go back.
If only for the mac and cheese.
