Noticed the guy sitting next to me was studying a list of college basketball games for Saturday, March 10.
He had made some notes in pencil so I politely inquired if he had some hot picks.
He nodded to one of the TV monitors that was on in the card room. “Well, I’ve got Kentucky,” he said, which was in the process of taking down Alabama.
He was wearing an old-style hat and at first glance, struck me as reasonably knowledgeable.
I ventured that I liked Villanova to take down North Carolina and Kansas to cover against West Virginia.
He muttered something about taking the other side in the Villanova-North Carolina game.
Didn’t make either of my bets. Wasn’t really that hungry for the action.
But be suspicious of guys with old-style hats. Villanova won and covered and so did Kansas.
